Sunny Day Real Estate returns!
My favorite band, Sunny Day Real Estate, kicked off their 2009 reunion tour on Wednesday, September 16th with an unannounced secret show at Hell's Kitchen in Tacoma, WA. Even though word only spread by a few blog posts and Twitter updates, the place was packed to see SDRE play for the first time in nine years, and the first time with the original lineup in 15 years.
The set went like this:
- Friday
- Theo B
- Red Elephant
- Song About an Angel
- Seven
- Grendel
- Shadows
- Iscarabaid
- 5/4
- Guitar and Video Games
- J'nuh
- Sometimes
Encore:
- In Circles
- 48
- Spade and Parade
On the set list, but not played, was also “10 (New Song).”
The next day, SDRE played the first official show of their tour in Vancouver, BC at the Commodore Ballroom. The set was as follows:
- Friday
- Seven
- Red Elephant
- Song About an Angel
- Grendel
- Shadows
- Iscarabaid
- 10 (New Song)
- J'nuh
- Sometimes
Encore:
- In Circles
- 48
- Spade and Parade
This time the new song was played. It was announced as simply, “New Song.” I wasn't able to get a glimpse at the actual set list at the BC show.
Pictures and a video of “New Song” are below.
